Izu-Kogen Gran Illumi's 12th season covers this winter: it runs from 6 November 2026 to 31 August 2027, at Izu Granpal Park. When we checked on 28 October 2026, the official site did not yet show opening hours, only the last entry at 8:45 pm. Getting there from Izu-Kogen Station is about 10 minutes by taxi or 20 by bus. The ride back is what to plan: the official site warns that buses may not be running during its hours.
We run hands-on workshops in Izu-Kogen and have no connection with Gran Illumi. This is what the official Gran Illumi site says, checked on 28 October 2026.
Dates and hours
The 12th season was announced on 17 September 2026: 6 November 2026 to 31 August 2027. The hours were shown as "Coming soon", so check the official site's calendar for your date before you go.
The site gives a last entry of 8:45 pm. Until 8 pm the lights run with music; after 8 pm they run without. Day and night are separate sessions: the park changes over between the two.
The site also says that from 6 April to 17 July it opens on weekends and holidays only. It gives no year for that, so if you come in spring, check whether it applies.
Price
| Ticket | Weekdays | Weekends, holidays, peak days |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (junior high school and older) | ¥1,800 | ¥1,900 |
| Child (elementary school) | ¥1,000 | ¥1,100 |
| Preschool child (4 and over) | ¥500 | ¥500 |
These are the prices as listed on the official site.
Children of elementary school age and under must come with an adult. The site links to advance tickets on Asoview; we did not check the price there.
Getting there and back without a car
The official site says it is about 20 minutes by Tokai Bus or about 10 minutes by taxi from Izu-Kogen Station. It also warns that buses may not be running while the illumination is open, and asks you to check the timetable from the Granpal Park stop on Tokai Bus's route search.
Our own advice, not the official site's: plan the way back by taxi. In Izu-Kogen you call one rather than wave one down; our article on getting around without a car explains how.
If it is closed
The official site says it may close because of weather, and that in that case it refunds neither tickets nor travel or other costs. If the lights are off on your night, our guidebook's advice is simple: make it a hotel evening, with a course dinner and the hot spring.
